Why does a 15-year-old game feel so fresh? The Dead Space remake takes a light approach, overhauling the graphics and sound while leaving the mechanics much as they were in 2008 – focused, tight, streamlined. The fact that Dead Space feels fresh in 2023 only highlights the lack of restraint in recent AAA games, which are often stuffed full with way too many features, simply because today’s hardware allows it.
